DESCRIPTION
Umbral Omen is a puzzle game that involves logical deduction and guessing. Each puzzle is procedurally-generated, so the player will never run out of new puzzles to solve.
The main campaign consists of around 50 levels, each of which is randomised every time the player tries again. In addition, there is are several daily puzzles with online leaderboards and around 40 handcrafted puzzles that are pure deduction (no guessing necessary).
At the start of every level (referred to as an ‘omen’) the player is given a number of clues about how the symbols are arranged in the grid; for example, “All ravens are adjacent to a skull”. Then, the player guesses where some or all of the symbols are located. If their guess is completely correct, the symbols are added to the grid. If not, they find out how many of their guesses were correct, incorrect or close. In the campaign, they will need to determine the location of every symbol before a set number of turns have passed.
On top of this basic formula, there are a number of modifiers for the player to discover, such as Mystery, where most of the clues are hidden at the start and will only be revealed after a certain number of turns. Each modifier will challenge the player to experiment and develop new strategies for deciphering the omen if they want to proceed.
